CHITOSAN

Information: weight loss supplements. Also known as Slim Down Solution, Lipoban, Chitosol, D-Glucosamine, Fat magnet capsules and Puralin.

It is a compound derived from skeletons of shrimp, crabs, and lobster.

It supposedly binds fatty acids or blocks the absorption of fat, leading to lower cholesterol and rapid weight loss.

Chitosan can decrease some fat absorption, but not enough to significantly reduce cholesterol or cause weight loss.

Several recent independent studies have shown that these claims are unsubstantiated.
